RADAC - Pollution & Invasive Species Guidelines

Pollution

'The Angling Trust' have campaigned for cleaner waterways since 1948, but through a new campaign 'Anglers Against Pollution', are seeking to give anglers a voice in the fight for a better future for the environment by holding the Government to account for its promises, its actions and its responsibilities.

Waterways are experiencing many forms of pollution - including intentional and non-intentional agricultural run-off, plastics, chemical discharge & raw sewage and this requires all of us, sportsmen, farming communities & industry to work collectively for a cleaner environment. If you discover what you believe to be unlawful pollution, in the first instance you should notify the club on 07912 695128, however if you believe the incident to be of a major environmental concern, then you can also contact GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) or to 0800 80 70 60.

'Fish Legal' (previously known as the Angler's Conservation Association, founded in 1948) was set up to protect all inland and coastal waters in the United Kingdom from pollution and other environmental damage. Fish Legal builds on over 70 years-experience in using the law to fight & prosecute polluters.

Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS)

Anyone who goes fishing, carries out river fly monitoring, does river habitat works, or indeed is involved in any other water-based activities, should be aware of the risks of transferring diseases and invasive non-native species (INNS) on clothing and equipment.

For more detailed information on the INNS that are currently affecting or are on the horizon to affect our waterways, including Signal Crayfish, Himalayan Balsam, Japanese Knotweed and Killer Shrimp;

Stop The Spread

All member's, guests & day ticket holders, must act responsibly to follow guidelines & thereby avoid spreading INNS and to take a proactive approach to reporting any pollution events or risks.
